What Would Jesus Tweet #WWJT

by Duong Sheahan on June 13, 2009

WWJT with pink bird

Let’s have fun with this…please don’t get all religious and offended on me…

Do you remember the WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) phenomenon? That was the craze in the mid 90′s, and the acronym appeared on hats, clothing, wrist bracelets, and all sorts of jewelry. The acronym served as a conscious guide as to What Would Jesus Do in certain situations.

Not only was it a hit with some Christians, but also athletes, celebrities, and people world wide. Guess what? I never owned a single WWJD item…and can’t remember why. Maybe I couldn’t find anything that match my outfit? Well, I was also busy raising babies, so maybe I just missed it! (Just kidding)

In early 2000, while I was making a transition into natural health, I came across a book by Dr. Don Colbert called, What Would Jesus Eat? The book is a guide to a healthier lifestyle by changing your eating habits and following examples from Jesus’ diet and those from Biblical times. I found it to be very interesting, with a lot of great recipes.

Since I’m pretty active on social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook, I started thinking…what if Jesus was on TwitterWhat Would Jesus Tweet (WWJT)? If He was on Facebook, what would his updates be like?

Would Jesus use Social Media? Would He have an Iphone or Blackberry? How about Skype, You-Tube or a Blog? I know this may be controversial for some religious folks.

I am going to be humorous with this…so please join me and share what Jesus would tweet in 140 characters if he was on Twitter in the comment section below.

Be sure to leave me your Twitter ID and Web URL if you would like to be a part of a possible upcoming project. Please make sure it’s 140 characters or less. You can see my examples below.

I started a hashtag- #WWJT for tweets or RT‘s related to What Would Jesus Tweet? Hers are a few #WWJT:

  • Traveling with my parents; been out of their presence for a day and they’re now just now noticing? (Luke 2:41)
  • What’s a wedding without wine, bring those water pots and watch what the Lord can do! (John 2:1-8)
  • Come hang with me…I’ll make you fishers of Tweeps! (Mark 1:17)
  • Whoah, you missed it, Peter just walked on water–oops he sinking, but at least he attempted the impossible…(Matthew 14:30)
  • Just sent a bunch of hogs into the Lake…SWINE FLU ain’t coming near me! (Matthew 8:32)
  • Found out Lazarus died; heading there in a couple of days to raise him from the dead, Who’s gonna come witness? (John 11:6)
  • Don’t be afraid Simon, Let’s go catch some Tweeps (Luke 5:10)
  • Ignore those religious Tweeps (Pharisees); your faith is what has saved you…go in peace. (Luke 7:50)

  • Let’s Connect!  Just launched a New Social Network! www.Bookoflife.com Connect w/Me & my followers and let’s change the world!

Please share your #WWJT (meant to be humorous, inspirational, and fun-not brimstone and fire or turn and burn tweets).

Friends losing coins, sons, and sheep, finding pearls and treasure. Gotta be a story there somewhere.

I’ll take care of the legs and sin. Could some else take care of that skylight?

Did you hear the one about the rabbi, tax collector and sinner? Hear it? I wrote it!

Anyone have a recipe for casseroles with sardines and bread crumbs? I gotta stretch supper tonight.

1. Come on people, share the news if you love me. Tweep calls to Tweep!

2. So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep tweep; and while he was tweeping, he took one of the man’s ribs…

I always like the unpublished Far Side commic with the tomb opened a little showing Jesus pouring a cup of coffee with the caption reading “I feel like I’ve been dead for three days.” I sing in the choir, feed the homeless, and teach Sunday school and still find that funny.

Now had that been Mohammad, Gary Larson would have been dead by now.

Have a blessed day.
