What I’ve Noticed Sitting in Traffic

I’ve been living in the Chicago area for almost twenty years and LOVE coming into the city whenever I have the opportunity. I’ve visited several large cities across the country and other than New York City, the traffic downtown Chicago is nuts on any given day!

For the past week, I’ve made a few trips into the city for various events and functions; the traffic pattern can vary depending on the time of the day or day of the week. One day it took an hour and half to get into the circle and a few days later on a Saturday morning it took only 30 minutes- huge difference!!

Then having to head back downtown for a wedding the next day (Sunday), it took over an hour compared to thirty minutes just the day before. Don’t people rest on Sundays? Traffic was insane heading from South to North Michigan Avenue.

Usually, I’m trying to catch the green light and zip through the intersection to get to my destination; but on this day, I wasn’t so lucky and it seemed like I was caught at every intersection with a few minutes where I could text, tweet and snap a few pictures from my camera phone safely.

Since I was stuck sitting in traffic surrounded by tourists and pedestrians, instead of people watching like I normally like to do, I decided to check out all the awesome buildings and skyscrapers that were visible from Michigan Avenue.

Here’s what I noticed sitting in traffic on Michigan Avenue…”WOW” Chicago has some really cool buildings and the architecture is amazing! Again, these pictures were taken from my Blackberry.  (Blackberry did not pay me to share these photos)

Those are some wonderful buildings. We don’t really have anything like that here in my area of Florida. There’s a few in Tampa that are quite striking but I find the northern big cities have that bit of extra charm and artistry of a time gone by, if you know what I mean.

I agree, Duong! Everday at lunch I walk around the loop and think to myself, I can’t believe I get to spend time here everyday!
