Be Renewed

Living healthier and happier involves having your mind renewed! I love what Ephesians 4:23 says, “Be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude]”. The word “constantly” means persistently or all the time; hence, our mind needs to be at all times renewed (improved or transformed).

Several people go through life with the same old habits but wishing that their circumstances would somehow be different. It’s like saying, you want to lose 25 pounds, yet continue to eat unhealthy, and not doing anything to achieve different results.
When I was younger, I was a hypochondriac. Every bump, bruise, or pain I felt on my body, was sure going to be a disease or illness.
I focused my thoughts on such negative outcomes, that at times I would end up in the ER, only for doctors to find absolutely nothing. All the worry leading up to nothing was stressful, and certainly didn’t help me to experience  emotional health or happiness in my life!

I am living healthier and happier today, because the first thing that I discovered in my life that was hindering me was my thought life. Boy, what goes on between your two ears is pretty powerful. Living healthier and happier needs to be balanced in every area of our life: spirit, soul, and body. Sometimes we focus on getting physically fit but we forget about the spiritual and emotional aspects of our well being, which I believe is the most important step in the process.

One of the best resources to help you in this area is Winning the Battle of the Mind, by Gregory Dickow. I would like to give one reader this book, to help you being your journey to living healthier and happier.

Another good post, Duong. It’s funny, I’ve been thinking on this very subject for several days now. The verse and principle that keeps ringing in my head is from Proverbs 23:7:

“For as he thinks within himself, so he is.”

Our thoughts are expressed by our words and both thoughts and words influence our reality more than we realize. We can be held captive by our own negative thoughts or released by thoughts and words that line up with God’s truth.

You are right that our spiritual health is most important because it affects everything else about us. We can eat the perfect healthful diet and still be reduced to weak and diseased victims through fear and anger.

God is the source of everything good, including good health.

Great Post! Romans 12:1-2 comes to mind, the renewing of our mind into the mind of Christ, the lessening of negativity that captivates us so that life becomes peaceful no matter what comes.

Really enjoy your writing style,

This is so true! I am a recovering hypochondriac myself, and believe me I still struggle with it. But I do believe that your thoughts create your reality. It takes mental discipline and practice to keep your thoughts positive. I hope the winner of your book is someone who can truly benefit from it!
