We’ve filled our hearts with gratitude, our plates with turkey and now it’s time to deck the house for the Christmas season!
I once subscribed to Victoria Magazine years ago and on the cover one year featured the most beautiful Christmas tree decked out with intricate and unique photo frames filled with pictures of family members from infancy to adulthood. It was the most unique tree I had ever seen. No one I knew had anything like it and I wanted to emulate this tree. I kept the magazine for many many years but eventually tossed it (guessing it was from 1995-1996). I have searched and Googled it to no avail.
I began to collect Christmas ornament frames immediately when the holidays were over to get the discounted prices. The following year, I remember my first photo themed Christmas tree donned just a few framed ornaments of our kids-all that I was able to find. Perhaps Victoria’s featured Christmas cover sparked more to be produced the following years; as today I have no problems finding picture frame ornaments. My collection of these frame ornaments started over 10 years ago and this photo tree is getting fuller each year.
I love seeing the photo ornaments illuminate through the lit branches of our Christmas tree where a smile or an expression has caught my attention and brings back memories that were caught on camera. Those precious moments are now a part of our holiday decor.
From Victoria Magazine… to my house…and now to share with you. Happy Decorating!
Gold & Cream bow with long tails, Regular White lights & Rosette lights (from Michael’s)
Close up of ornament photo frames
Angel on top of bow as tree topper, a part of mantle decor…
Mantle Garland & Candle holders….
Stockings with photo ornaments, the kids loved to identify their stockings each year. Over recent years I’ve added the frame stocking holders with names…
Reindeer and decorative stacked boxes next to the tree on fire place base used for extra ornaments & Christmas misc…
Below I switched the garland from sitting on mantle to draping across the mantle (depending on mood each year), place a few angels across the mantle… and space the stockings. This was a flash defect, but it turned out to be my favorite photo- so warm.
My favorite moments during the holidays are sitting by the fire at the end of the day, listening to Christmas music and enjoying the the peaceful ambiance. Reflecting on all the wonderful blessings and remembering the reason for the season.
I’m gearing up to decorate…this week!

I love decorating for Christmas, but I’m not ready to go there yet. Your post is slowly inspiring me to start thinking about it though.
Stunning! I love this time of year. I get so excited about the celebration and the decorations.
The frame idea is really cool. I like that very much and will have to make use of that myself. Thanks for sharing!
