Google Analytics is a great tool for Bloggers to track traffic. It allows you to see how many visitors land on your site and on what posts. You can get as detailed as visits per day, week, month or year as well as traffic source.
I’ve decided to pull up some basic information about this blog which was launched in April of this year (2009).
My traffic source are as follows:
Search Engines: 47%
Referring Sites: 37.5% (ei: Google, Twitter, Facebook, Blogs that I’ve commented on, Stumbled Upon etc.)
Direct Traffic: 21.2%
Other: 11%
Google analytics is pretty advanced and can give you more for those who hunger for stats; however, I won’t bore you with all the details but rather just some basic features that have helped me. If you are a blogger who is not currently using a traffic tool, you can start with Google Analytic’s basic features and go from there based on your needs.
With the year coming to an end, I was curious to see what my TOP most visited blog posts were…and surprised at a couple that were on the top visited posts and…. ((( drum-roll…))):
